To Share Wonders of The Universe, UNDER ULTRA-DaRK Sky of Bryce Canyon.
The Dark Ranger®  Mission is to improve scientific literacy, build enthusiasm for humanity becoming a spacefaring civilization, and heighten awareness to the evils of light pollution. To that end, we offer enthralling stargazing experiences.  Research our tour options in the "Book a Tour" drop-down menu above. Whether you are booking for a PhD or a preschooler, these are the reasons you should stargaze with the Dark Rangers® :

  • Lots of BIG telescopes = more viewing & less queueing
  • Ultra-dark sky where  Milky Way extends to the horizons
  • Artful  and educational, LIVE space science  shows
  • Constellation tours  for cultural connections  to the sky
  • Large and Small Private Tours
  • Astrophotography lessons & practice (private tours only)
  • Telescope test-drives (private tours only)
  • Unparalleled enthusiasm for sharing astronomy
  • AND  much, much, MORE.
Use the drop-down menus  in the banner images at the top of every page to learn more and make your booking(s).

BTW... drop-down menus are  retro web design from when websites were functional tools with informative content written in complete sentence form. Modern websites are on-line ads  filled with vague buzzwords, forcing you to call  to get details, and so you can be up-sold by a "real person."  However, if you're a good reader, everything is here.

NEXT "Special Event" Telescope Tours:

April 23: Lyrid Meteor Shower

These occur at the Dark Ranger Observatory.
Picture
Earthlings have enjoyed Lyrid Meteor Shower for 1000s of years with written records going back to 680 BCE.  While not sourced from as dense of a  debris field (most meteors are particles left behind from comets)  as the Perseids of Aug. or the various meteors showers of early winter, the Lyrids can still produce 18-20 meteors per hour! The best part of the Lyrids is you don't have to stay up late to see them, because their greatest activity occurs BEFORE midnight!

Technically the peak will be April 22 but we're  celebrating on April 23 because that's when thin crescent Moon and Venus will have an appulse (closest approach).  FYI "conjunctions" are for astrologers and antique telescope users.
Though Special Events are priced the same as any other night, the cancellation / refund policies are less generous. After clicking Book Now  read top of the next page that will open for specifics.

Great, but we don't like people. Can "Special Event" nights also be booked as Private Tours?

Absolutely! Make a Special Event Night a Private Telescope Tour.

Our Telescope TourS in Northern Utah (e.g. Park City, Eden) etc. - NOT at the Dark Ranger Observatory Near Bryce Canyon.

Utah Has Become The Dark Sky State!

Southern Utah boasts 4 (Bryce Canyon, Capitol Reef, Natural Bridges, and Hovenweep) of the  darkest places accessible by regular car in North America!  In total, 22 National and Utah State Parks  have  International Dark Sky Association designation, as do the communities of Torrey and Helper, Utah.

We the Dark Rangers® are among Utah's original night sky champions  which is why we  sally forth from our Observatory to offer private tours around the state but especially in Northern Utah including popular destinations like Salt Lake City, Park City,  and Eden.

(East Canyon State Park)
$50 per Adult
$25 per Teen / Kid
